Initiatives
The IndianaMap is being built and maintained through a series of individual projects, each concentrating on a specific goal, like data sharing or economic development. These projects involve the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and local partners aiming to acquire, improve, and deliver a wide variety of geographic data for Indiana.
Overall direction and strategy is determined by the Steering Committee. This body includes representatives from partner organizations, stakeholders, government agencies, and other interested groups. All meetings are open to the public, and participation is encouraged and appreciated.
Data Sharing Initiative
The Indiana Geogrphic Information Officer, in partnership with nearly a dozen other organizations, invited Indiana counties to expand the value of the IndianaMap by contributing a minimum amount of information about land parcels, local road centerlines, point addresses, and administrative boundaries. more...
Framework Data Plans
State code passed in May 2007 stipulates that Indiana develop a statewide data integration plan. This is being accomplished by defining critical geographic information by "framework data layers," and creating plans for each layer. more...
